Two wines from La Coleccion triumph in the 2009 International Wine Contest of Monde Selection
1492 Santafé Crianza won a gold medal and the Palacio de Santa Cruz took silver in this prestigious international contest.
La Colección D.C.E. has achieved new recognition for the quality of its wines. In the latest international edition of the Zarcillo Awards 2009 its “1492 Santafé Crianza” ran off with the silver medal. At another prestigious contest - the 2009 International Wine Contest of Monde Selection, which took place in Brussels Belgium – the company was awarded the gold medal for its “1492 Santafé Crianza” from Ribera del Duero (Denominación de Origen - DO) and a silver medal for the “Palacio de Santa Cruz Vendimia Seleccionada 2004” from the same region.
This competition, under the patronage of the Organisation Internationale de la Vigne et du Vin (O.I.V), appoints International Jury members. All members are selected according to their recognized professional proficiency as wine tasters or oenologists. In accordance with the official rules and regulations on Wine Contests in Europe, the sum for all medals awarded to the samples that obtained the best results may not exceed 30% of the sum total of all the samples entered for the Contest.
Monde Selection is an Independent International Institute founded in 1961 on a Belgian initiative in Brussels, making it the oldest and most representative organization in the field of Quality Selections in the world. Each year an average of over 1500 products are presented to the Institute from 70+ countries in order to assess their quality standards.
For manufacturers or industrialists operating at international levels, it is essential to have an outside opinion and independent checks for the purpose of monitoring the quality of their finished product, in accordance with previously defined criteria, parameters and recognized tasting schedules.
La Colección D.C.E. is a project with roots firmly embedded in the most established historical regions of Spanish wines – with interests in Ribera del Duero, Rueda and Rioja. In Ribera del Duero the company has a 160 hectare-vineyard in the so-called Milla de Oro (Golden Mile) beside Vega Sicilia, of which 100 hectares are planted (80 hectares of Tempranillo vines and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon). Within five years the firm also plans to build a wine shop on the premises. At the moment the vines are young and the grapes are used to produce the Vallis Tollitum wines. A young wine without depth but in the future the excellent terroir of the estate will allow it to develop all the qualities demanded throughout our range.
As the plants continue to develop and the passing of time helps them mature and take root, La Colección D.C.E. will reap its reward from this booming denomination by using it to give life to the entire range of their ‘riberas’: Vallis Roble; 1492 Santafé Crianza; 1492 Santafé Reserva; and the top wine Palacio de Santa Cruz, vintages that fulfil the modern profile of wines with potent aromas and complex tastes - a real delight.

It is a monovarietal wine made from tempranillo that reveals its elegance. Well-balanced, rich, opulent and integrated flavours mean it is harmonious on the palate and has soft tannins. Fresh, very eloquent and pleasurable.

Follow the successes conquered by the 1492 Santafe Crianza 2003, the vintage 2004 has begun with strength and has been awarded with a Silver Vinalies 2008 approved by the French association of oenologist, which can gives us an idea about the importance of this honour.
1492 Santafé Crianza is going to become one of the great crianzas of Ribera del Duero and is without any doubt , a wine to think about during these first years in which it is finding a place between the quality wines of this exquisite denomination.

Oter de Cillas Verdejo 2007
The Oter de Cillas Verdejo 2006 has opened many doors to each single one who begin to enjoy the wonderful wine world and make the supporters of this variety enjoy in his passion by this peculiar variety.
Now with the 2007 we have kept the same line of verdejo 100% preserving all its primary esencencias, typical of La Coleccion’s wines and especially in the line OTER OF CILLAS. Regarding to his image we have considered interesting doing a small modification on the label, making easier to read it but without losing the line that follows all La Coleccion products: smartness and simplicity.
Now with the 2007 we have kept the same line of verdejo 100% preserving all its primary esencencias, typical of La Coleccion’s wines and especially in the line OTER OF CILLAS. Regarding to his image we have considered interesting doing a small modification on the label, making easier to read it but without losing the line that follows all La Coleccion products: smartness and simplicity.
